Snowman Recording ‘Dreamy’ New Album

This time last year, we reported that Snowman were "furiously" writing their third LP in London. A year on, and they’re finally recording it.

The Perth-born quartet, who relocated to the UK shortly after the release of The Horse, The Rat and The Swan, have begun recording in various locations throughout London with fellow Aussie Aaron Cupples (The Drones, Dan Kelly, Subaudible Hum).

The as-yet-unnamed album is described as “creamier and dreamier than the last. Still rhythmically driven, but also awash in textural walls of sound”. It was written over two years in 10 different countries and explores the themes of “displacement, dislocation and the removal of oneself from one’s home”. Funny that.

Here’s how frontman Joe McKee describes the new songs: “It's about tearing yourself away from the things you love in order to ... move on. It's about not turning into this thing that you have created. Keeping that distance. Killing the myth.”

No release date as yet, but it’ll be out locally through Dot Dash.
