Sixth Comp For New Weird Australia

New Weird Australia (NWA) have drawn a line in the sand with the release of their sixth compilation of new Australian experimental music.

Available now for free download, the compilation features music from Jonny Telafone, Chrome Dome, Wigwam, J Newman & R Squires, Kynan Tan, Trjaeu, Paneye, Isle Adore, Danger Beach and Philip Sulidae, as well as unreleased tracks by Underlapper, Ambrose Chapel, Anna Chase and Eastern Grey (featuring members of The Emergency, Tantrums and A Dead Forest Index). But it will be the last of its kind, with co-founders Stuart Buchanan and Danny Jumpertz announcing that the next batch of releases will signal a change in direction for NWA. Described as “a cohesive and natural evolution”, the next series will feature guest curators; thematic and genre-specific compilations; and a new series of artist EPs, released free with limited CDs available on the side.

In the meantime, you can download a copy of NWA volume six for free via www.newweirdaustralia.com. The compilation features artwork by David Egan, one half of Perth-based duo Wigwam and label manager for Badminton Bandit.
