In Brief: Auraltered State, Bridezilla, Single Twin
  • The next installment of the Auraltered State concert series will take place at the new Performance Space Clubhouse at Sydney’s Carriageworks on Saturday (May 29). Acts performing include psychedelic jam band Holy Balm (pictured), the self-described “best MC in the world” Purple Duck and Pimmon (aka electro soundsmith Paul Gough). Supported by the NSW Ministry of the Arts, Auraltered State is a series of eight concerts focussing on the music of NSW as heard through the ears of Lucas Abela (Justice Yeldham, Rice Corpse). Entry is free, but limited to 100 patrons. For more information click here.

  • Back from an “epic” tour of the UK, Bridezilla will headline an Oxford Art Factory Showcase Series gig in Sydney on June 16. Supports by Domeyko/Gonzalez, a Sydney duo whose fresh take on shoegaze incorporates samplers, beats and synths; and surf rock act Step Panther, who have just released a debut 5-track EP titled Surf. Entry is $5.

  • When one residency ends another begins for Single Twin, the new project for Marcus Teague from sadly defunct Melbourne outfit Deloris. Teague will wrap up a month-long residency at Melbourne’s Wesley Anne on Wednesday (May 26), before embarking on a similar run of shows at Edinburgh Castle, also in Melbourne, next month. The residency will take place each Wednesday, beginning June 9 and running until the end of the month. Copies of Single Twin’s Came Home Dead EP will be available at the shows. Meanwhile, a debut album is due out in July.

I swear Auraltered State is on the 29th. The flyer on my desk says 29th. The facebook event - http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/event.php?eid=393176710916 - says 29th.

And it's state - no plural - it's supposed to be Lucas Abela's guide to awesomeness in New South Wales. Awesomeness being why the last one had Naked on the Vague and Crab Smasher and this one has Holy Balm. HB were great at Kitchen's Floor and utterly awesome at Garbage and the Flowers. Happy dancing times.
