Forthcoming: The Sirens Of Venice
News posted Tuesday, May 18 2010 at 02:00 PM.
Related: Gersey, Sirens Of Venice.

What: The Sirens Of Venice by The Sirens of Venice.
When: June 4 on Speak N Spell.
Key notes: Debut album for new collective helmed by Craig Jackson (Gersey) and actor/musician wife Camilla (best known for, er, “wrestling rhinos” in the iSelect ads). Features eight members, mainly family, stretching from Melbourne through to Coffs Harbour, Glasgow and Adelaide. Produced by Vince Giarrusso from The Underground Lovers and Jed Palmer. From the presser: “Melds moments of shimmering grandeur with rippling shoegaze and glowing melodies.”
First impressions: In the Sirens of Venice, Craig Jackson has finally assembled a group of players large enough to carry out his wall-of-noise fantasies. The album brims with soaring melodies, epic crescendos and spectral vocals courtesy of his wife Camilla, but it’s also imbued with the kind of spaciousness and restraint you’d expect from a record produced by Vince Giarrusso. Highlights include the New Pornographers-esque ‘Do You Believe’ and ‘You & Me’, with its gorgeous strings and choir of voices.

I'm disappointed that this phrase can't live up to my initial misreading of ''Meds moments''.
