Forthcoming: The Gin Club
News posted Friday, May 14 2010 at 04:00 PM.
Related: The Gin Club.

What: Deathwish by The Gin Club.
When: May 29 through Plus One Records.
Key notes: Fourth album by the seven-piece Brisbane-based collective (Adrian Stoyles, Ben Salter, Conor Macdonald, Scott Regan, Bridget Lewis, Dan Mansfield and Gus Agars). Follows 2008’s Junk, which received three prizes at the 2008 Queensland Music Awards, including Song of the Year (‘Ten Paces Away’). Produced by Magoo, Dan Mansfield and The Gin Club. Recorded at Prior Park, The Corn and Browne St by Murray Paas. Features guest contributions by Mick Thomas (Weddings Parties Anything) and Megan Washington.
First impressions: A more compact and pointed, but no less diverse, follow-up to 2008’s sprawling double-disc epic Junk. Brimming with alt-country hooks (‘Pennies’, ‘Choppin’ Wood’, ‘Shake Hands’), tender ballads (‘Do Right’) and odes to solitude (‘I Am My Own Partner’). Despite the ironic title, Bridget Lewis’ touching ‘Milli Vanilli’, sounds like it was written about Queensland’s floods.

Pre-ordered this just yesterday.
If you head to Plus Records and pre-order the LP you go in the running to win a whole bunch of cool shit.
Bonza!
Thanks for the tip, Ash!
Nice! Looking forward to hearing this.
It's a god damn ROCK album!
Some tunes take a strange 80's ballad / rock path...... it's all a bit weird.
It's a great record to listen to while cleaning the house.
I looking forward to hearing the new tunes live AND hoping they unfold a bit more face-to-face..
I've changed......
Kinda getting into this LP now.
Choppin' Wood is my fav!
