Fabulous Diamonds ‘Back’ With New LP

Related: Fabulous Diamonds.
Its cover art may be a little more folically challenged than 2008’s hirsute Seven Songs, which simultaneously made our best and worst lists of the year, but at least Fabulous Diamonds have stuck with their preference for unelliptical titles.
Dubbed Fabulous Diamonds II – a reference to the fact that, yes, this is their second album – it’ll be out through venerable Melbourne indie Chapter Music on June 19.
Spanning five untitled tracks, two of which extend past the 10-minute mark, Fabulous Diamonds II was recorded by Eddy Current Suppresion Ring’s Mikey Young and mastered by Qua’s Cornel Wilczek. Like Seven Songs, it will also be released on vinyl by US label Siltbreeze (Naked On The Vague, Times New Viking, Psychedelic Horseshit) later in the year.
The band will launch the album with a tri-state tour in July. Details below. Supports, ticket details and more dates to be announced soon.

fucking excellent
WANT! Will be at the Spectrum show barring injury.
Can only be a good thing with Fab Ds.
Also people who think Seven Songs has a bad cover confuse bad with things that make them uncomfortable. It's an excellent cover.
yes! been gagging for this record ever since the new stuff turned up in the live sets.
Awesome. I'll be in the front row getting chest boners about the surly faces! One of my favourite bands in Australia ever.
Excellent news.
who painted the cover?
looking forward to hearing it.
also - wow, mikey young is sure making the rounds.
Having sex!
Or they may just think it's a bad cover.
Can't wait to get this. Why do the Fab Ds love The Toff so much though? That place sucks.
i like it. they sound great there.
It doesn't really suit them, that's for sure. But what does? I'd like to see them play at the Workers Club or Horse Bazaar, but they're too modern and not epic enough for FDs. The Corner is too large and plain. The Forum would be good if they could ever afford it. I think they need to be in places where they can sound huge and a little frayed. Northcote, too, is too tidy. Hmmm. Spiegeltent.
I quite liked them at the Corner, despite not really liking that venue at all. They sounded great!
Awesome cover!
Ha! So ancient & epic venues then. The Coliseum?
the forum.
Hey I think the official title of the album is Fabulous Diamonds II by Fabulous Diamonds! Not including the exclamation mark.
They've played the Workers Club
who is this untold/animals idiot?
I
LOVE
THEM
Myra Mcilhenny (not sure how its spelt) painted the cover, she's an artist and also Jessica Mcilhenny's (Free Choice Duo, Jarrod's girlfriend) mum. THE ALBUM IS AMAZING. already one of my favourites of the year.
Hey, we have also got launches booked in for Adelaide in early August and Brisbane in early September (playing two show there, a launch and also a early-early set at the Frankly Festival at the Powerhouse), hopefully Hobart should happen too.
You don't like The Toff? I mean it is not the best if your a punter or whatever, but man, to play there is sweet. Permanent backline, good rider, nice classy, low-lit atmosphere with draped curtains and seating available etc.
Also we have 2 of the shorter poppier songs you can listen to on myspace.
Hey are you guys playing red rattler tonight in Sydney? It's listed in drum.
Can I marry one of you?
August lunchbox?
Hey we were going to come up for the G&TF launch but things didn't turn out, which is a shame. Their new 7'' is great. Though I swear that the b-side is the audio from one of their rehearsal videos on their Myspace...hilarious.
Hi Fab D!
They don't have Cooper's on tap.
Cooper's4phagzinnit
Look at that body hair. Worthy of Harry and the Hendersons. How would Jarrod cope in the summer??!!!
How would black bear cope in the summer?
Next.
nothing but mad admiration for this band's sound. makes me feel like a fanboy goose when i see them around town, but eh. new songs on myspace are both brilliant. their evolution feels quite subtle. i guess to many they'll come off pretty similar, but these tunes suggest a much tighter, more confident, refined and undoubtedly better record. more fleeting melodic flourishes, more shades/colours, i think? anyway, easily the record i'm anticipating most, at the minute. desperate to hear it.
i'm anticipating the shit out of this album. i dusted off that old Oh Belgium 45 the other day, and man, it still sounds killer. jarrod for mayor of skronkville!
I love that Oh!Belgium 7''. Great band, sorely missed.
there was an OB 7''? damn, missed it. i have fond memories of a nth melb town hall gig, still have the CDR which was selling at the show for $2.23 or something
The Fader big up Fabulous Diamonds.
Come to Canberra. It's nice here.
Gorilla vs Bear love them too!
muchly look foreward to this splice of wax. . . .
killer line ups and another launch announced later this week.
this album will blow minds!
got a copy of this today! Sounding pretty damn awesome so far!
I just got the 'back' joke. Is it in shops now?
They had CDs in Missing Link today for $25. I couldn't afford it.
I wish I was joking.
vinyl too?
Just the CDs.
this album is great. is there a free choice album or just those split cassettes from a while ago?
7'' split w mental powers too, plus some demos and such floating around.
