Sally Seltmann will take her new album Heart That’s Pounding on the road in July. But the burning question on everyone’s, er, lips is whether Mark Monnone, who plays bass in Seltmann’s band, will recreate his “unconventional” percussion live?
In an interview with M+N last month, Seltmann revealed that the odd percussive sound on ‘Dream About Changing’ – one of the album’s upbeat pop gems – was actually Monnone slapping his bum. And there’s every chance of a reprise given he plays in Seltmann’s all-star band alongside Jessica Venables (aka Jessica Says), Tim Harvey (Hot Little Hands) and Sally's husband Darren Seltmann (The Avalanches).
Together, Seltmann and her band will be performing songs from her acclaimed new album, as well as tracks from the New Buffalo back catalogue, which includes The Last Beautiful Day (2004) and Somewhere, anywhere (2007). The tour follows on directly from her first headline tour of North America. Supports include Otouto, kyü and Parades.
