I Rogers And I Act

Alright, he’s no Peter Fenton, but there’s every indication that Tim Rogers may well give this acting caper a red-hot go.

After starring in Jane Campion's Holy Smoke more than a decade ago, he’s played a hard drinkin’, philandering rabbi in student film Hunter Finkelstein; made his stage debut last year in the Malthouse Theatre’s adaptation of Woyzeck; and will play himself in the first episode of new eight-part series I Rock (2.0), which will make its ABC2 premiere on Monday.

In the show's first episode, Rogers – looking dapper in a baby blue jacket and jeans – compares driver’s licence photos with the show’s main characters, Nash (Josh Mapleston) and Comet (Ashley Fitzgerald). The episode also features footage from You Am I performing Temperance Union track ‘My Brother’s Room’ at The Annandale in November last year.

The show, which “charts the path of a struggling indie rock outfit” in Sydney (ala groundbreaking rock film Garage Days and ’80s sitcom Sweet and Sour), also features cameos by Laura Imbruglia and former triple j presenter Scott Dooley. It screens Mondays on ABC2, 9pm.

Modi  said about 1 year ago:

Is the ''struggling indie rock outfit'' the one Tim is wearing in the picture?

That girl is very attractive, though.

mathieson  said about 1 year ago:

Is Ashley Fitzgerald (as Comet) playing an aspiring musician? Or an aspiring model?

Modi  said about 1 year ago:

There are hot chicks in Indie bands. You should go see Loungey's band.

Texaco  said about 1 year ago:

Modi  said about 1 year ago:

Yeah, they played on Wednesday night, but I missed them. Prior to that, they played six months ago...

Texaco  said about 1 year ago:

I used to enjoy them here in Syd, back when they were an all-girl band.

If this show were a dart it would miss the dartboard, fly out a window, pop the tire of a passing garbage truck full of used tampons and dead rats causing the driver to wildly swerve into the pub, where all patrons would either die on impact or suffocate in used tampons and dead rats.

nice work andyd

bigdaddykane  said about 1 year ago:

Andyd must've seen it!

Rogers 'exit' is worth a watch, but overall this show is cancer, and worth a cursory look from the kitchen while it plays in the other room only if you like cringeworthy bad acting, terrible scripting, weak plotlines, douchey characters, unrealistic situations, SHIT music, ugly actors and did I mention, TV that gives your balls/ovaries cancer?

Eg: Seen in episode 2, the Battle Of The Bands episode:

''Win a spot on this summer's hottest festival, Splendour In The Grass!''

the ads for this look terrible. looks like terrible execution of an idea that must have been bad on paper.
