Wolfmother Drummer Stands Down

Another Wolfmother drummer has stood down – and this time it has absolutely nothing to do with frontman Andrew Stockdale being reportedly difficult to work with, or the limitations of having to “play it like Bonham” at every show.

After two years of “good service to Wolfmother”, ex-Resin Dog Dave Atkins (that's him, second from the right) has decided to jump off the gravy train and spend some more time with his family, according to a note posted on the band’s website. He will be replaced by Will Rockwell-Scott, who has previously plied his trade in the Mooney Suzuki and Har Mar Superstar.

“Dave has had a great experience touring and recording with the band, though in time, it’s proven to be too exhausting and taxing on his home life. Dave gives his blessings to the band and may well still be around for future recordings,” reads the statement, which goes to great lengths to establish that “all is good between the band” and “everyone is cool”.

Rockwell-Scott will perform with Wolfmother for the remainder of their seemingly endless Cosmic Egg touring cycle. He is the band’s third sticksman after Atkins and founding member Myles Heskett, who now plays in Palace of Fire and The Slew.

That's a shame. At least with Atkins + Stockdale in the same room you knew where most of the arseholes in Australian music were at at any given time...
