Related: Temper Trap.
They may have relocated to the London suburb of Hackney last year, but that hasn’t diminished Australia’s love affair with The Temper Trap.
Despite returning home from last year’s ARIAs empty-handed and effectively performing the same set since M+N last saw them at the V Festival in early 2009, the quartet have sold out the 4500-capacity Festival Hall in their former hometown of Melbourne in just four hours.
The band are touring Australia in July/August in support of new/old single ‘Love Lost’, the fourth lifted from their debut album Conditions. Released through Liberation last June, the LP recently peaked at #4 on the Billboard Heatseeker chart in the US and is currently sitting at #20 on ARIA’s album chart.
Tickets are still on sale for Sydney, Perth and Auckland shows, but are reportedly “selling fast”.

Since when they are #that big.
what's a heatseeker chart?
Heatseeker chart:
It pinpoints hype bands and then BLOWS UP IN THEIR FACES.
Anyway, pretty big achievement above. Go Asians!
Interestingly, the reason for this success isn't due to Triple J or hipsters or the people who read Mess and Noise.
It's because somehow, The Temper Trap have been fully embraced by commercial radio worldwide. They're playing to the same crowd who buy tickets to Coldplay or Snow Patrol or Lady GaGa.
Everything about their album is obviously pitched at the Coldplay audience. The artwork, the videos, the dramatic yet meaningless name ('Conditions'). That is clearly what they want, so good luck to them.
I was looking for shit to do in Toronto last night. Temper Trap sold out a 600 capacity venue on a Tuesday night up against Vampire Weekend and Beach House who also sold out their shows.
I think it's fantastic that a Melbourne / Australian band can sell out Festival Hall after such a short time. Good on them I say - fuck the tall poppy crap - it's really great to see a local band kicking arse.
