“We’re in no man’s land for Australia and New Zealand at the moment,” confessed Violent Soho singer Luke Boerdam in an interview with M+N late last year. Despite a self-described “solid” plan for the US, including a record deal with Thurston Moore’s Ecstatic Peace label, a local deal has so far eluded the Brisbane neo-grunge quartet … until now.
The band, who recently relocated to Brooklyn, have just entered into an arrangement with Liberation and Universal Music for the release of their self-titled second album. Produced by Gil Norton (The Pixies, Triffids), it’ll be out on April 30, with lead single ‘Jesus Stole My Girlfriend’ out on April 2. The single is currently sitting at #38 on the Billboard Top 40 rock songs chart.
The band, who are in the midst of a North American tour with The Bronx, are expected to announce an Australian tour soon.

YAAY. I was wondering when they were coming back to play...
Can't remember his name, but old slant mouth in that pic, he's a dude.
I think his name is Luke as well?
Sorry to be nerdish, but their debut album was We Don't Belong Here, produced by the late great Dean Dirt. Although it was more a compilation of tracks from their EPs and a few songs they had floating about, I'd say it's still their first full-length.
This self-titled new album is all the stuff they've done since then and re-recordings of some of their old songs (such as Jesus Stole My Girlfriend). It is their American debut though.
Regardless, congrats to the fellas, they rock and are totally ace dudes. Can't wait for tour dates.
james, they're all dudes

Local Violent Ink Deal - Soho?
O! Local Violent Hos Deal Ink!
Excellent.
Although I have just noticed you cheated, TR.
Thats it, James. And yep, they're all dudes, but that guy...that guy right there....
you're not being nerdish. you're being right.
Yeah James is the guitar player. They are all lovely. But James is the coolest. Long overdue if you ask me. The industry should have been paying attention a long time ago.
according to the interview, they had an offer but declined.
love violent soho
not so keen that i've already heard the ''new'' single about 100 times though
write some more fucking songs
as far as i know they turned down a multiple album deal from a certain label in their home town years ago and then turned down the services of a certain manager whose name rhymes with mogg ragstaff again years ago. said yes when they started working with Dean Dirt and Mushroom and then again to Thurston...so i would say more careful with who they work with then not being noticed.
do guys actually like their music?
Totally. They have some obvious influences that they wear on their sleeves, but they've got killer tunes and an awesome live show.
I love the music. And yes they had an offer a few years ago. I know what the offer was, and it was a bit of a joke to be honest. They made the right move by not taking it.
do guys actually like their music?
yep. love it. don't care if it's not particularly original.
love the music and love the dudes.
yeah they kick-ass. wild live band too. i'm still unsure about them re-recording (and rearranging parts of) some of their best songs, but it's probably part of a grand thurston plan.
i'm looking forward to their new songs quite a bit.
modular?
Nope
