New Weird Australia Showcase

New Weird Australia will present its first live event for 2010 next week – and it’ll suitably be a state-wide affair.

Four acts from three states will perform at St Petersburg in Sydney on March 27. They include: Hobart two-piece Paint Your Golden Face (pictured in miniature), whose self-titled debut album is out this month through Tenzenmen Records; Newcastle’s Alps (aka Chris Hearn); Melbourne’s Caught Ship, who feature on New Weird Australia’s latest compilation; and Karoshi, Sydney-based musician Beres Jackson who plays a mix of “melodic downtempo folk-tronica fused with Berlin influenced glitch-techno”. Tickets are $10 and are only available at the door.

To drum up some PR for the show, New Weird Australia have released a free promo EP featuring all four acts. You can download it here. Volume five of New Weird Australia is also available for download. It includes tracks by Duns, Justice Yeldham and Crab Smasher.
