Useless Children will play one final Melbourne show before embarking on a US tour in support of their new 7”, ‘Skin’, out soon through Chicago label Criminal IQ. The trio will perform at The Old Bar on March 27 with supports by Deep Where All Drown (ex-Venom P Stinger), Teen Archer and Daddy Long Legs. The 7” follows their debut album, Sky Is Falling, which was released last year through Exo Records to critical acclaim.
With tickets limited to 500, it’s hardly surprising to hear that the fourth installment of annual boutique festival Boogie has sold out. Taking place over the Easter long weekend (April 2-4), the festival will see performances by the likes of Leader Cheetah, US singer Justin Townes Earle, Wagons, The Ooga Boogas and The Break, featuring members of Midnight Oil and The Violent Femmes, in their first Victorian show. For those who missed out, information on next year’s event is available here.
Save for a “20-minute unrehearsed jam” at the Tote’s last drinks, Johnny Casino & The Secrets haven’t performed live since a two-night stint with You Am I in November. The Sydney/Melbourne outfit will perform their first shows for 2010 in Melbourne this weekend: at Last Tram Home Presents at The Old Bar on Friday (March 19) with Penny Ikinger and The Uneasy Listeners; and on March 20 at The Esplanade’s Gershwin Room with Mick Hadley, The Boobytraps, The Breadmakers and The Frowning Clouds.
