Philly Jays To Relocate

The population of Australia’s musical expat community in the UK is about to increase by three.

After inking a deal with Beggars Group label Too Pure, Philadelphia Grand Jury will follow in the footsteps of The Temper Trap, Snowman and more recently Canvas Kites by relocating to the UK for the “foreseeable future”. The band have already booked in a series of club shows and festival appearances leading into the northern summer including spots at Great Escape, Liverpool’s Sound City Festival, the Beggaers Banquet Showcase and Club NME.

But before they head off, the band have announced a run of local dates in support of new single 'I Don't Want To Party (Party)', the “anti-slacker anthem” from last year’s debut LP Hope is For Hopers.

Released to iTunes on March 22, the single is bundled with three exclusive never-heard-before tracks: a disco remix of Hope is for Hopers album track 'Wet Winter Holiday' by Mike FWD; 'Jimmy At The Whorehouse, the first cut off a self-produced solo concept album by singer Berkfinger due out later in the year; and a hip-hop funk jam penned by the band's new drummer Calvin, a 56-year-old ex-session guy who’s played with the likes of Earth Wind and Fire and bebop legend Sonny Stitt.

Surely they wouldn't be let in there on account of them already having The Wombats.
