Aussie BBQ Fires Up Locally

For the past eight years, the Aussie BBQ has plied South by Southwest (SxSW) revelers with free snags and some tasty morsels of Australian music. It’s also the only place you’re likely to ever see The Drones and Gabriella Cilmi on the same bill.

For the first time, “The Aussie BBQ” will fire up in Melbourne and Sydney to raise funds for the promotion and marketing of bands travelling to the US for SxSW in March. The Melbourne event takes place at the Corner Hotel in Richmond on February 23 with Oh Mercy, Wagons, Crayon Fields, Boat People, Pets With Pets and Summer Cats. Meanwhile, Sydney’s event will take place at The Annandale on March 2 with The Goldhearted (the new outfit featuring A&Rs Mark Holland and Glen Dickie), Goons Of Doom, Sherlock’s Daughter and City Riots. Both events are $15, with a free BBQ and giveaways.

The “real” Aussie BBQs will take place in Austin on March 20 for SxSW and in New York on March 25. For line-ups and more information click here.

this is a day party in austin right? not that i would go (except to get free coopers) but it's kinda shitty that it's not open to non-badgeholders like most other day parties.

they will need a lot of liquid refreshment because voices will be hoarse from protesting loudly
