A mere five months after its release, The Mess Hall will hit the road in support of fourth album For The Birds in March – and they’re bringing some hot young things along for the ride.
The duo of singer/guitarist Jed Kurzel and drummer Cec Condon will play 13 cross-country dates with Sydney’s Bridezilla and new outfit Cabins, who have sparked some online “buzz” with their darkly melodic track ‘Hounds’. The tour kicks off on March 4 at the University of Wollongong, taking in Newcastle, Sydney, the Gold Coast, Eumundi, Brisbane, Hobart, Launceston, Melbourne, Ballarat, Fremantle and Perth, before winding up at Adelaide’s Jive Bar on March 27. Tickets on sale through www.themesshall.com.au.
Released through Ivy League on November 13, For The Birds was described by yours truly as “an engaging album that reinvigorates the tired two-piece format”. It follows the Australian Music Prize-winning Devils Elbow (2007).
