Introducing … The ‘M+N’ Lunchbox
News posted Wednesday, January 20 2010 at 02:00 PM.
Related: Denim Owl, M+N Lunchbox.
In the vein of Casual Fridays, Cupcake Mondays, Suicide Tuesdays and other workplace traditions, M+N will kick off a new lunchtime gig series at 1000 £ Bend on February 5.
Held monthly, the “M+N Lunchbox” will feature a free performance by a local act in The Bend’s purpose-built exhibition space, one of the largest in Melbourne’s CBD. Playing our inaugural gig is Denim Owl, a dreamy indie-pop duo featuring Janita Foley and Aleks Bryant from Aleks & The Ramps. The pair, who are currently in New Zealand for Campus A Low Hum, will be performing songs from their debut EP, The Dream Pocket. The show will start at 1pm.
Can’t reschedule that power lunch with Jenny from accounts? Don’t fret. Each show will be filmed for M+N TV.

AWESOME! So, what day of the week is Feb 5? I iz dumb.
friday!
boozy lunch.
It says Friday Frankie.
That'll learn me to skim over the last part.
initiative!
Is this place licensed now, then?
More importantly, is LAMF running the kitchen yet?
friday! caffeinated lunch.
Good place for more shows I reckon. Shame I can't make it in to the city at lunch though.
They do serve beer I think. They have obnoxious beer ads all over the place.
those microbrewery names are getting ridiculous.
M+N is definitely moving up in the world.
wow.

Maybe I should get a new job with more than 30mins unpaid lunch break.
I'm in Melbourne for this!
saganaki burger and gig for $9... sounds good to me!
What good luck ... it's my birthday!
What bad luck ... I'm working and can't get the time off.

Exciting!
I release an album that day!
two days after my 40th!
Still hating on Jenny from Accounts. That's cold, jones. She's always been good to you.

i love you untold/animals. more than you will ever know. one day we shall meet.
Did Danny high-five anyone ?
I did see jose surveying his fiefdom from the back.
In the meantime, enjoy the smell.
Thank you anok.
...of gusseting's bubblegum-scented plastic clogs?
Sure, why not. Enjoy each others' smells, one and all.
It's a good space, but the sound was indeed quite echo-ey. Concrete floor, brick walls and high ceiling made sure of that. Still, it's got heaps of potential. I'd love to hear a loud rock band there.
but but WE SAW M_HORSE
This is true.
I saw you on the way out FT and was going to come over and say hi to you and jose but I realised how disastrously late I would be way back at the other end of the city.
I wasn't sure if the sound was so echoey just because I was on the side, almost behind the speakers.
Yeah, it would be nicely brutal methinks.
We almost had a full set of Melbourne M+N writers there. Must have another ''round table'' soon.
In between not talking about my shoes and/or jeans, Block did mention this too.
Lawson ? I thought I saw him near me but I was mid-conversation.
Sounds medieval.
It's very medieval. It involves flagons of beer.
tell me who the cute photographer dude in the red check shirt is.
I missed this. I am sad.
Were saganaki burgers had?
Dudikoff, I'm not coming to another roundtable unless Block promises to stop mocking my shirt and shoe combo.
He's a harsh judge, that's for sure. I could see him drift into reveries of insults when I appeared, like an unattractive tight-jeaned, pointy-black-shoed apparition, before him.
It's lucky he's a suave bastard. I wouldn't take such guff from a mere mortal.
NO SAGANAKI BURGERS. i was rather peeved about that, as it sounded like a taste sensation.
Denim Owl are amazing. Aleks drums like brrrappta-tah-phsssh.
