The Kill Devil Hills have added a couple more stops to their “Another Joke, Another Ransom” tour. The Perth quintet will now perform on February 11 at the Northern Star in Newcastle and February 19 at the Rocket Bar in Adelaide. The Blue Mountains show on February 14 has also been moved to Hotel Gearin in Katoomba. Presented by M+N, the tour kicks off on February 5 at The Zoo in Brisbane. More details here.
Venerable Melbourne indie Sensory Projects have announced their first signing for 2010. And it’s none other than Rat Vs Possum. Over the past 18 months, the band have played a packed Wednesday night residency at The Tote; supported Midnight Juggernauts, Ponytail and Telepathe; played Spring Tones; covered The Workers Club in bubblewrap; and played a set that wavered between “absolutely inspired neo-tribal bliss and shambolic, shouty freak outs” at last year’s Goondooloo festival in regional Victoria. The band’s self-titled debut will be out through Sensory via Inertia in April.
Sound Summit is looking for a “creative, energetic and highly organised individual” to work with current festival co-director Andrew Tuttle, as well as the Sound Summit Advisory Group and MusicNSW, on this year’s event. Running as part of the annual This Is Not Art (TINA) festival in Newcastle over the October long weekend, Sound Summit aims to explore the independent music scene in Australia.
