MJS: Knowles Collaboration Is ‘Casual’

The Midnight Juggernauts have shed a few vague details on their recent collaboration with Solange Knowles, the younger sister of Beyonce (yes, the Beyonce, the woman behind “one of the best videos of all time”).

Knowles, who performs under the mysterious moniker Solange, made a surprise appearance on stage during the band’s performance at the Falls Festival on New Year’s Eve. An unintelligible tweet followed (“stew- dee-yoooo w @juggernauts we beez cord’n”), fuelling rumours that the band were producing her forthcoming third album. But speaking to M+N this week, the band’s management company Smartartists said those reports were wide of the mark.

“It's nothing more than Solange is a long time fan of the MJS. She came to Melbourne over the holidays to do some casual writing and recording with the guys for her future project and as you know she joined them at their Falls Festival show on New Year’s Eve, where she did an impromptu guest vocal spot on one song.”

In recent interviews, Solange – a noted fan of all things indie – has expressed her desire to work with the Juggernauts, as well as Chairlift and Boards of Canada. She has also contributed vocals to Of Montreal’s forthcoming new album and last year covered The Dirty Projectors’ ‘Stillness Is The Move’.

haha, that's actually really kinda cool. didn't know much about solange until recently, but considering her new directions i'm now really intrigued by her. plus summer would be a good time to be hanging out in melbourne.

If Solange joins the Juggernauts, she must grow a beard.
