Forthcoming: ECSR’s ‘Rush To Relax’

News posted Monday, January 11 2010 at 11:00 AM.
Related: Eddy Current Suppression Ring.

What: Eddy Current Suppression Ring’s Rush To Relax.

When: February 15 through Shock.

Key Notes: The follow-up to the Melbourne quartet’s AMP-winning second album Primary Colours. Recorded by guitarist Mikey Young on eight-track in Revolver rehearsal studios in the Melbourne suburb of Prahran. Features the band’s “least boring cover art” (designed by the band and snapped by Nicole Reed); two ballads “made for a man and his woman”; two punkers to prove they’re still keeping it “mad real”; and three “self indulgent” jam that go for more than six minutes.

First Impressions: Eddy Current’s most diverse set of tunes yet; another artistic leap forward by a band that refuses to rest on their laurels. The kraut-inspired ‘Second Guessing’ might be the best song they’ve recorded to date.

Tracklisting:

Anxiety
I've Got a Feeling
Tuning Out
Gentleman
Walked Into a Corner
Second Guessing
I Can Be A Jerk
Isn’t It Nice
Burn
Rush to Relax

astralwerkor  said about 2 years ago:

Uris.

astralwerkor  said about 2 years ago:

Uh, yeah. That was meant to be an enthusiastic yeow, but my phone thought it would be better expressed as Uris. Wizzy wha'?

anok  said about 2 years ago:

uris is the new yeow.

Dexter Ramone  said about 2 years ago:

URIS!

anonymous  said about 2 years ago:

so the new record sounds like a cross between indecent obsession and the presets?

URIS!

fakeplasticme  said about 2 years ago:

september  said about 2 years ago:

which is the one women don't like? there's a song on it that rigid said, 'women don't like this song.' or 'most women get angry when they hear this one.' or ... i was pissed at the time but i remember hearing it and saying, 'is this it? yeah, i don't like it.'

but i liked the rest of the album on the first listen and i suppose i'll end it liking it as much as the previous two.

look, i might have been listening to the onyas at the time and could be thinking of hit you up the guts. i hate that fucking song. how old's your sister too.

fuck the onyas suck.

yay eddy current.

josejones  said about 2 years ago:

'tuning out'?

september  said about 2 years ago:

i don't know, jose. rigid could answer that but i think he's in cairns luring backpackers into his van right now.

drtoupee  said about 2 years ago:

Mordi or Chelsea beach?

Frankston, Surly

HeteroAsFuck  said about 2 years ago:

Onya's rule. Watch your mouth September

rigid  said about 2 years ago:

september, the song was ''gentleman'' and i said ''no woman will be able to resist brendan after this song''. you got it wrong. you always get it wrong with matters musical. if anyone needs me i'll be out on the reef.

rigid  said about 2 years ago:

ps hetero, we are a plural not a possessive. no need for an apostrophe. come on mate, you're a homeowner.

september  said about 2 years ago:

oh there you are rigid.

are you sure?

alright, have it your way then.

when are ECSR playing next anyway?

Bugsy.  said about 2 years ago:

i like that cover shot. is the banner at the top photoshopped?

rigid  said about 2 years ago:

i don't know when the next gig is. i'm way out of all loops. figure there'll be a launch about a month after the album comes out.

bamesjaker  said about 2 years ago:

I love your attention to grammatical detail, rigid. That's what differentiates the old school from the upstarts.

JunkiePhil  said about 2 years ago:

Feck of it did!

Bugsy.  said about 2 years ago:

it said somewhere that their show at billboards with ohsees was gonna be their last until march

september  said about 2 years ago:

are you confusing old school with elitism, bamesjaker?

rigid  said about 2 years ago:

as soon as i get the hang of capitalization i can start playing the blues.

oort  said about 2 years ago:

The banner looks to be too much in the foreground, plus you would be able to see the plane, wouldn't you Bugsy? That said the cover rules! Launch with the Onyas please, it's only been 2-3years since they've played down this way..

bamesjaker  said about 2 years ago:

Possibly, yes, september - though the revolution will not be won with imperfect grammar.

bamesjaker  said about 2 years ago:

rigid, if you split all your infinitives, you'll soon find yourself in the Royal Albert Hall.

josejones  said about 2 years ago:

as soon as i get the hang of ''capitalization''...

were you born in the US or something?

september  said about 2 years ago:

yeah, play with the onyas. that should keep the crowd down and make a path to the bar easier to cut.

Block  said about 2 years ago:

Look, this stuff about the plane banner is all well and good, but what this cover needs is some ''Abbey Road''-type analysis, so we can figure out which one of them has died and been secretly replaced by a lookalike.

JunkiePhil  said about 2 years ago:

I'm going to get punched for this, but at first I didn't think Danny had a mask on.
Will Dan come back as Green Lantern?

bamesjaker  said about 2 years ago:

I think it has to be Brendan - he's got 'SH' in front of him, which suggests everyone else has to keep quiet that it's not really him.

Ash-showoff  said about 2 years ago:

i like that cover shot. is the banner at the top photoshopped?

If that were a real banner wouldn't we see the plane...

Will make for an awesome LP cover!

JunkiePhil  said about 2 years ago:

There is a hand in the sky that is reaching out for Mikey.

oort  said about 2 years ago:

rigid, any luck with the tender?

timmydodgers  said about 2 years ago:

sheeit lots of in-jokes flying. as for ecsr, excited! which is probably redundant as it barely needs saying I suppose - or is the backlash awaiting this LP?

oh and yes, great cover, and I like the new song a lot. hopefully a decent vinyl press will be available!

crimpies  said about 2 years ago:

No Wet Cement?

ImBored  said about 2 years ago:

The one on the right looks like Deni.

astralwerkor  said about 2 years ago:

The one on the right looks like Deni.

Very true.

URIS!

rigid  said about 2 years ago:

hopefully a decent vinyl press will be available!

first two albums were in the thousands. i believe both are in print right now.

sarahkdee  said about 2 years ago:

Enough with the grammar lessons! Digress! Eddy Current Suppression Ring is the best band around town and that's the bottom line!

unvisible  said about 2 years ago:

''Rush to Relax'' means exactly the same thing as ''get there fast, and then take it slow''. Conicidence?

timmydodgers  said about 2 years ago:

john stamos has replaced brendan? sh then means shit not shhh! could mean more bongos and steel drums - topical garage anyone?

Kicks  said about 2 years ago:

A: Avalon Beach. Banner...check rest of the cover when out. Vinyl...of course! Wet Cement will be on the next 7''.

Zac  said about 2 years ago:

crimpies said 2 days ago: No Wet Cement?

That's what i was thinking, it's my favourite E.C.S.R song...

mathieson  said about 2 years ago:

One hugh launch or multiple nights at a smaller room as an event?

oort  said about 2 years ago:

festival hall! they killed it last time they played there

oort  said about 2 years ago:

summer USA tour in June/July according to goner

timmydodgers  said about 2 years ago:

normally we'd all be waiting for the backlash to kick in? maybe we'll all be sensible this time and just love it?

whatwhat  said about 2 years ago:

no backlash for the drones either.

maybe cultural cringe is dead.

anonymous  said about 2 years ago:

anyone know if ecsr are playing a sneaky sideshow in sydney?

one lives in hope.
