Cave Nominated For ‘Bad Sex’

Depraved sexual fantasies about Avril Lavigne and Kylie Minogue have helped land Nick Cave a nomination for this year’s Bad Sex in Fiction awards.
The “honour” is bestowed annually by the Literary Review magazine to discourage the use of “redundant passages of sexual description”, the likes of which litter the pages of Cave’s second novel The Death of Bunny Munro. Set in Cave’s home of Brighton, England, the book details the sordid adventures of a door-to-door lotion salesman who embarks on a self-destructive road trip following his wife’s suicide. The book has already gained notoriety for its depiction of Lavigne’s vulva, which Cave apologised for in an apparent PR stunt last month.
While widely considered a literary roasting of sorts, the Bad Sex Award nod puts Cave in illustrious company. This year's 10-strong shortlist also includes Amos Oz, Philip Roth, Paul Theroux and Jonathan Littell.

Well done, I suppose about ten hours ago it was 1:30. Everyone else was probably out. You know. Doing things?
Some poor farkers were at work
And on GMT
i'm happy to see theroux nominated. i really like him usually, but am currently reading the blinding light and the sex scenes are cringeworthy. if i wasn't so stubborn about finishing books i would've thrown it off the balcony ages ago.
Cave has bad sex in Movember.
