that's one big list on page 1.

EPs are not eligible for ''album'' of the year.

__v  said about 2 years ago:

Great poll! I enjoyed that.

Should James McCann's 2009 album be Bound for the Blues instead of Last Night I Met the Devil?

Ash-showoff  said about 2 years ago:

Neat.... My fav LP's were by: Sub Hum - The Wildes - Black Cab - Adrian Deutsch - Kid Sam (just).

JunkiePhil  said about 2 years ago:

Was The Drones Havalah this year?
I thought it was....
I wanna vote that, can you add please?

josejones  said about 2 years ago:

havilah came second in our readers poll last year.

JunkiePhil  said about 2 years ago:

Well fuck, I just voted for it.
Can you change mine to Stabs then?
Thanks.

tugboat  said about 2 years ago:

Is it only for local acts?

tinyman  said about 2 years ago:

again, the liberal media conspiracy against Christmas albums continues.

this reminds me. i had forgotten to pick up albums by alps, bachelorette, and psuche. wink wink nudge nudge, if someone would like to send me a copy to sway my vote. er, you're already a few minutes too late, but please do anyway.

i thought i'd seen a few shows, but hadn't seen any of the best live act nominees. i had to guess that the Dacios would be most impressive.

tugboat  said about 2 years ago:

Is it only for Aussie acts? I'm confused.

tinyman  said about 2 years ago:

yes, though no doubt one or two kiwi acts snuck in there too.

skinny jean is nominated.

pc  said about 2 years ago:

I think The Ancients self titled album and The Black Ryder - Buy The Ticket, Take The Ride should be on the list.

Ash-showoff  said about 2 years ago:

M+N don't dig The Black Ryder!

JunkiePhil  said about 2 years ago:

Some of those came out this year, but we're recorded well back.
So you could have a record sitting in the can for 10 years, put it out this year and win!

I need sleep, I'm not sure who's got it.

Ash-showoff  said about 2 years ago:

Here's the filled-with-limited-love Black Ryder thread

josejones  said about 2 years ago:

re: Black Ryder, Ancients, Guy Sebastian et al, we have an ''other'' box for this reason. it's not a snub, we just couldn't possibly put every single local record released in 2009 on the list -- although we've tried.

Pex  said about 2 years ago:

couldn't see this little gem on the list, even though it was reviewed here:

should be an ep category. so many great ones.

soula  said about 2 years ago:

i finally voted. but then realised i haven't listened to 5 new albums this year. let alone australian ones. ah the state of local music...or more my absence from local venues.

and some of those acts in 'newish act' aren't that new.

King_Rat  said about 2 years ago:

That might be why they're newish

soula  said about 2 years ago:

but should they be new to 2009, or is 2008 ok? cause then they could have added more bands in that category. why some and not others? where is the line drawn?

not trying to make a fuss, just confused by the list and who i should vote for as newish.

King_Rat  said about 2 years ago:

Well then what you do is look at the list and pick what you believe to be the best newish act.

josejones  said about 2 years ago:

it was more about acts that had their ''breakthrough'' year in 2009. and we tried to avoid bands that were nominated in 2008 like Super Wild Horses and The UV Race.

Gorn  said about 2 years ago:

Best newish act click ''other'' and enter: Bloody Coroner

knifetank2  said about 2 years ago:

oh best NEWISH act. i thought that said best JEWISH act. that's the only reason i voted for telecom.

soula  said about 2 years ago:

ta. i picked 'other'.

'breakthough' is a dubious term though.

IronMic  said about 2 years ago:

how come i can't vote in this? every time i click the link it takes me back to the homepage

shaun  said about 2 years ago:

That means either you, or someone else who uses the computer you're at, has already voted.

josejones  said about 2 years ago:

CLOSES TODAY!

Block  said about 2 years ago:

WHAT TIME?

josejones  said about 2 years ago:

5pm!

Last year's poll was decided by TWO votes...

Block  said about 2 years ago:

Yours and Danny's?

charly  said about 2 years ago:

My votes are in! And with 3 and a half hours up my sleeve I could've agonised over each decision for longer...

josejones  said about 2 years ago:

you can always go to an internet cafe and put in another vote, charly. GARN!

toadphoney  said about 2 years ago:

Alternatively you could use another browser or dump your cookies.

That's right! Cape Cod Affair will be shock winners for most categories.

kuroneko  said about 2 years ago:

That was difficult. So many great releases and live acts to choose from.

Block  said about 2 years ago:

looks at watch, taps screen
