RIYM Sign To Rice Is Nice

It’s been a busy year for up-and-coming indie Rice Is Nice. After snapping up Seekae, Shady Lane and Miniature Submarines, the Sydney-based label – also home to Talons, Traps and Spod – welcome psychedelic oddballs Richard In Your Mind into the fold.

The band’s first outing on Rice Is Nice will be a digitally released EP, the aptly named Summertime, out December 1. Described as a “super-fun half hour of music, best served with BBQs, beach volleyball and tasty, tasty naan bread”, it features the ’60s-ish pop of ‘Summertime Boogie (do the)’ and ‘Make It Chill’, a track awash with early ’90s hip-hop flavours. The EP is a precursor to the band’s soon-to-be-released second album. It follows 2007 debut LP The Future Prehistoric.

I'm looking forward to their alternating ''novelty'' and ''serious'' record releasing phases.

Has anyone seen them live recently and heard the new tunes?

One of the best bands in Sydney. Top shelf, boys.

Timmmay  said about 2 years ago:

I think this band is vastly underrated, hopefully this label can help that change.
