It’s been long out of print, but most of the Underground Lovers’ celebrated back catalogue will finally see the light of day this month.
Melbourne label Rubber Records will digitally reissue several albums, rarities, EPs and singles on November 21 through iTunes and other download services. Releases include the Simon Grounds-produced Get To Notice; fourth album Rushall Station; Whitey Trickster, a home studio collaboration with Sonic Animation; Ways T'Burn and Cold Feeling, both recorded at Birdland Studios with Mikey Alonso and Lindsay Gravina; and Evil Underground Lovers 94-97, a compilation of live tracks.
Rubber will also release singles ‘In My Head’, ‘Takes You Back’/‘Undone’, ‘Starsigns’ and ‘Infinite Finite’, as well as the Cold Feeling EP. Three early albums – Underground Lovers (1991), Leaves Me Blind (1992) and Dream It Down (1994) – still remain unavailable.
To celebrate the digital reissues, the recently reformed original line-up – Vincent Giarrusso, Glenn Bennie, Phillippa Nihill, Maurice Argiro and Richard Andrew – will perform three shows: at Syndey’s Annandale Hotel on December 4, Homebake on December 5 and at Melbourne’s East Brunswick Club on December 19.
Formed by Giarrusso and Bennie in the late ’80s, The Underground Lovers played their last show in 2002 supporting New Order on their Australian tour.

isn't get to notice their debut, also known as a self-titled album?
well well well, Phillipa back in the band.
can someone explain this to me. i own the records of the above that i want, just curious.
I also think that the self-titled is the same as ''Get To Notice''. The other two unavailable ones would be unavailable because they were on Polydor, whereas the first one was on Shock and all the later ones were self released. Did Polydor perhaps do a reissue of the debut which would account for it appearing on the list with the other Polydor ones?
Anyway, good to hear all this stuff is back in print, I think the later self-released ones didn't get the attention they deserved back in the day. Also very exciting to be seeing them live again soon! The last time for me was Dec 31st 1998.
thanks, makes sense now.
last time i saw them was during my first trip to melbourne. think it was around february 1999 at the evelyn.
they're not back in print, they're available digitally only
yeah, even a run of 500 or 1000 would be exciting wouldn't it - people can steal or share these songs digitally now i'm sure without too much effort, ''digital re-issues'' leaves me with a cold feeling! he he
Yeah, the same albums. The album was self titled when it 1st came out but when released overseas(UK i think) it had a slightly different track listing(Lick the Boot instead of Ascend Up)which are on my vinyl and cassette copies.
I don't know if the original track listing came out on CD or just as 'Get to Notice'.i haven't seen any other copies than that.
People looking at the digital releases should buy the EVIL album.a nice live collection of UL songs from 94-97.
It would be nice if the band or labels put together a compilation of the E.Ps and the B-sides tracks.
It must getting hard to find the singles and so many great songs just go missing.
some of the EPS/singles are being digitally reissued too. They'll be up on iTunes, have a look
