The idea of Aleks & The Ramps hosting a Halloween party is kinda like KISS putting on a light show with pyrotechnics: it happens all the time. The Ramps are prone to dress-ups with an ever-evolving wardrobe – one moment there’s basketball singlets, the next there’s face paint, sequined jumpers and a pair of sparkly black-and-silver mesh pants complete with codpiece.
No surprises then that the band promise “fairy lights, synchronised dances and gore” for their official Halloween party at the Workers Club in Melbourne on October 31. The show will double as the launch of the Ramps’ new single, ‘Destroy the Universe with Jazz Hands’, the epic opening cut from their second LP Midnight Believer. The single is being released as a digital-only EP that includes a remix by Slo-Mo Speedboat (Jamie from Architecture in Helsinki); an 8-bit, arcade-style reimagining of ‘Antique Limb’ by Neutro and Lone Zero; and a cover of a Leonard Cohen “party track”.
Supports from Tokyo’s Limited Express (Has Gone?) and local provocateurs Bum Creek.
