V Festival No More?

Michael Coppel Presents have officially ended their three-year association with the V Festival, throwing into doubt the festival’s future in Australia.
In a statement released today (October 26), Coppel confirmed that they will no longer be working with the Virgin Group on the event.
“For the past three years, the Virgin Group and Michael Coppel Presents have worked together to deliver the acclaimed V Festival to Australian audiences,” the statement read. “The presentation of V Festival in 2009 concluded this arrangement, and the partnership is not being renewed.”
Despite suggestions in this weekend’s Age that the V Festival had been shelved, the statement does not rule out the event returning to Australia under the wings of a different promoter. Virgin Group will reportedly make further announcements on the status of V Fest in the coming months.
This year’s event saw The Killers, Vanilla Ice, The Temper Trap and The Howling Bells, among others, perform in Sydney, Melbourne, the Gold Coast and Perth in March.

WHAT?! i didn't know that! dammit!
It's ok Tinyman. You didn't miss much...
was v festival successful at all?
It's a shame. The first two were excellent; probably the best festivals I've been to. It's just a shame that the line-ups they've booked haven't necessarily appealed to bogans that go to the other festivals.
At least we have them to thank for bringing the JAMC, Duran Duran, Air, Jarvis Cocker, Beck, Pixies and a lot of others that most fesitvals wouldn't bother with.
They didn't bring Beck to Melbourne though. And for that I can never forgive them.
Beck was pretty ill and put on a fairly lifeless show (he probably should have cancelled), so don't feel too bad.
i, genuinely, hope V Fest can continue onto bigger and better things. well, maybe not bigger. but better, yes.
i can't believe i'm paying to go to 2010 BDO. what got into me?
Thus proving festivals are for bogans.
when was beck at v?????
First year, 2007. Era of The Information and the live puppet show.
I think that is true to some extent. But it's mostly festivals that are held in the capital cities.
