'Delicate' Collaboration For O’Connor, Hart

Geoff O’Connor has spilled the beans on his recent collaboration with Frente’s Angie Hart. The pair have co-written a song, ‘Delicate’, for Hart’s forthcoming solo album Eat My Shadow, and according to the bespectacled Crayon Fields frontman, it reminds him of ’80s rom-com classic Cocktail.
“It would have been nice to hear Bryan Brown sing this song to Tom Cruise over a stiff whiskey when they were packing up the bar after a big night,” O’Connor told M+N.
The song was fleshed out in O’Connor’s bedroom in North Melbourne just hours after working with tempestuous indie heartthrob Muscles.
“I usually write alone so the whole day was a real crash course in collaborative songwriting,” O’Connor recalls. “Angie came to my place with some lyrics and they seemed to fit well with a group of chords I'd been strumming all week.”
And while O’Connor’s version of ‘Delicate’ doesn’t appear on the album – the song was re-recorded by Hart and producer Shane Nicholson – he says he’s “thrilled” with the results. “I was very pleased that the final arrangement was sparse, much like the demo we recorded the day we wrote it.”
To celebrate the release of Eat My Shadow on October 23, Hart will embark on an east-coast tour, beginning in Brisbane on November 5. Dates below. You can also hear an exclusive stream of ‘Delicate’ here.
