Exotica, Doom and Brechtian waltzes. This is what listeners can expect from the new Holy Soul album, Damn You, Ra, which will be launched on an east-coast tour this month.
Kicking off at the Oxford Arts Factory in the band’s hometown of Sydney on October 16, the tour will include support slots for The Mess Hall, as well as shows with Talons, Ghosts of Television, The Dirty Three’s Mick Turner and Late Arvo Sons.
Released late September on Illustrious Artists, Damn You, Ra features guest contributions from Ralph Carney (Tom Waits, Jonathan Richman), Rui Pereira (ex-The Drones), Loene Carmen and Kate Mara. It follows the band’s 2005 first full-length Sign Of The Triangle and direct-to-cassette debut EP Love Has Left The City Limits (2004).
Earlier this year, the band toured South East Asia, performing at Taiwan’s inaugural Music Terminals Festival alongside Tricky, Chicks on Speed and fellow Aussies The Stabs and Cuba Is Japan. Read about it here.

Friday!
That drummer's hot shit.
Yeah, I'd give her one.
I'd give her three and then buy her five!
Just don't get 'er near cars or cacti.
Or petri dishes.
yay capt'n snooze...
huhuh! acoustic show!
ARRRGGHH!
where's The Clubhouse?
It's in the valley, across from the kebab store. A lovely, quiet little place, as you can imagine.
Wooo, who's going to the Red Rattler show?
ME!
Bummed OUT that it's on the same night as Tumbleweed. Don't wanna go anywhere usually, then a few shows on the same night. Still haven't been to Red Rattler, shamefully, either.
I owe Worrad so many beers for comprehensively missing his gigs, goddamnit.
Anyone know rough set times?
raises hand
I know it starts at 8:30...?
Late Arvo Sons are not playing the Old Bar show. Brendan Black will be playing instead.
So...
The Holy Soul 12:00am - 12:40am
Mick Turner 11:00pm - 11:40pm
Miniature Submarines 10:00pm - 10:40pm
Brendan Black 9:00pm - 9:40pm
8:30pm $10
its the same playing times everynight everywhere. i cant tell if people are taking the piss when constantly asking this question. if not then the general rule is 9, 10, 11 and 12 give or take half an hour.
@ the old bar tonight
damn you, ra = damn fine, ta. enjoying it right now.
