New Project for AOF Frontman

With Art of Fighting currently on hiatus, frontman Ollie Browne has started a new band to pass the time. Dubbed Parallel Lions, the group will release their debut album Holding Patterns via Bird Music/Shock on October 23.
Originally a solo project for the ARIA Award-winning songwriter, Parallel Lions have swelled to a three-piece with the addition of Hamish Michael (guitar/keys/vocals) and Sam Bates (drums).
Holding Patterns was recorded, mixed and co-produced by Sydney's Tim Whitten (Augie March, The Go-Betweens, Crow) at Birdland, Newmarket and BigJesusBurger studios during May-September 2009. With an emphasis on “movement and rhythm” and a “fresh production approach”, it’s described as a shift away from Art of Fighting’s classic guitar-band sound.
You can hear a sample of the album, ‘Separated’, on the band’s MySpace page, which also insists that the new trio doesn’t spell the end of AOF. They promise.
