In Brief: Little Red, Seekae, Brain Children

Retroactive quintet Little Red will emerge from their bunker for a show at The Corner Hotel in Melbourne on October 29. The band have spent most of the winter writing material for their second album. The follow-up to last year’s Listen to Little Red, it’s due for release through Liberation Music in the first half of 2010. The Melbourne show will precede a brief sojourn to London in November, where they’re playing “a bunch of shows” in support of their debut release. But never fear: Little Red, like clockwork, will be back for the summer festival circuit in December. Tickets via www.cornerhotel.comSeekae (pictured) will re-release their debut album, The Sounds of Trees Falling On People, on October 17. The fruits of the band’s recent signing to Rice Is Nice, the re-release will come in the form of a double digipack with a bonus disc of remixes. Originally released in December through the band’s own Knitting Club Records, The Sounds of Trees Falling On People was described by M+N as “recalling some of Aphex Twin’s more subliminal excursions”. Full review here. The band plan to (re)launch the album in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane (dates TBA). They will also support the Midnight Juggernauts on their upcoming ‘This New Techonology’ national tour … Melbourne’s Brain Children are among the final acts announced for this month’s Beck’s Rumpus Room, a series of after-show performances as part of the Melbourne International Arts Festival. The duo – Mikey Young (Eddy Current Suppression Ring) and Max Kohane (Agents of Abhorrence) – will perform in DJ-mode at the Your Animal/Beaches/My Disco show at the Forum Theatre on October 17.
