In Brief: Children Collide, The Kits, Royalchord

Children Collide have been remixed by UK electro-pop quartet Ladytron … for a sports game. The track is available as a free download with every copy of FIFA 10 for the PlayStation platform. In addition to the remix, the original version of ‘Skeleton Dance’ - taken from the band’s debut album The Long Now - features on the official in-game soundtrack. “My Irish cousins punishing me at FIFA while they called me ‘Skippy’ didn’t deter me from loving this game,” reasons singer Johnny Mackay, “and the chance to get remixed by Ladytron – who we’re all fans of – has been the icing on the cake of the whole experience.” Not into sports games? You can hear the track here … Melbourne expats The Kits have teamed up with none other than The Saints’ Chris Bailey for two new tracks. Bailey and the band are currently holed up in Gizzard Studios in London, where they’re working on demos of ‘This Is A Set Up’ and ‘The Battle’, two potential a-sides from the band’s forthcoming second LP (due for release in early 2010). Having recently recruited Owen Eszeki (ex-Bit by Bats) on bass, The Kits are about to commence a run of 10 shows in Europe. Dates here … Globetrotting Melbourne natives royalchord (Tammy Haider and Eliza Hiscox) will launch their new album The Good Fight at Melbourne’s The Toff in Town on November 15. The album was recorded with a stack of keyboards and pawn shop instruments in an isolated village in the south of France. It will be released on October 10 on Mistletone/Inertia. Royalchord are currently one week into a month-long residence at the Edinburgh Castle, also in Melbourne.

Children Collide, are this band ever going to do anything musically noteworthy. People gave British India shit for being 'the next big thing' for 2 years, CC seem to be making a career out of being the next 'big thing'. How about some killer songs Johnny? How about a great debut album Heath? Am i alone in tiring of seeing CC on rage at 3am with an expensive video to a mediocre song?

obviously fucking not. they are shit. they are a step lower than shit. i would rather watch accident prone kids running head first into each other. infact, it seems funniest home videos are better than ''CC''!

And a bit off topic, but the little Indian place opposite the Edinburg Castle have really nice chick pea curry.

King_Rat  said about 2 years ago:

I went to that Indian place once before a My Disco gig at the Brunswick Arts space. I thought it was shitttthouse.

That indian gaff is horrid.

tinafabulous  said about 2 years ago:

You talking about the place that's painted orange on the outside?

JunkiePhil  said about 2 years ago:

Yep, I live right near it, had a few, all have been soggy and bland.

King_Rat  said about 2 years ago:

The castle does pretty sweet homely food anyhow. At least it used to I am not sure if they are still running the same menu but it used to slay a bit.

Ben  said about 2 years ago:

yeah, I thought that place was pretty average

It took Children Collide a few years to get going, but they've actually achieved a fair bit over the last 18 months and their album holds up really well. Hopefully they make sure the follow-up is ready sooner rather than later.

josejones  said about 2 years ago:

do CC actually have new material? they've been flogging the same stuff under different guises for years.

King_Rat  said about 2 years ago:

They wrote a titload of songs before the latest release. There was some rehashed stuff obviously but they have a bank of tunes in the vault.

mathieson  said about 2 years ago:

They need to, apparently they're recording an album in January with Youth producing.

King_Rat  said about 2 years ago:

I know they were doing 12 hour days a lot in ye ole rehearsal rooms. A lot of rehearsing. Too much for the metal brainz.
