In the wake of the Hopetoun’s closure, Jamie Hutchings show in Sydney this Friday (October 2) has been moved. He will now perform with his Imaginary Choir at the Bald Faced Stag Hotel in Leichhardt. Supports by Mark Moldre and Michael Beach from Electric Jellyfish … Melbourne synth-pop outfit Love Connection will launch their new single ‘I Know You’re Real’ at the Evelyn Hotel on October 24. The track is the first to be lifted off their debut album, out early 2010 through venerable Melbourne indie Sensory Projects. Supports include like-minded purveyors of experimental pop The Parking Lot Experiments, Rat Vs Possum, Tantrums, Psuche and Milk Teddy. Tickets available through Moshtix or $10 on the door … Something For Kate’s Paul Dempsey (pictured) has been added to the list of speakers for the Face the Music conference at Melbourne’s Arts Centre on October 31. Dempsey, who is currently launching debut solo album Everything Is True around the country, will be performing and speaking about songwriting, recording methods and artistic realisation with author, journalist and M+N contributor Craig Mathieson. Other speakers confirmed in round two include Karnivool guitarist Drew Goddard; Sarah Jane Wentzki (Princess One point Five) on unlocking the role of record labels in developing artist careers, as well as representatives from the Mushroom Group, Illusive Entertainment, the Soundwave Festival and Handsome Tours.
