After 11 years Robbie Buck is leaving triple j.
The triple j stalwart, who currently co-hosts breakfast radio show Robbie, Marieke and the Doctor, will leave the station in 2010 for the evening slot on 702 ABC Sydney, 666 ABC Canberra and ABC Local Radio NSW, ABC News reported today.
Buck, whose radio experience began in his home town of Lismore, is best known for helming Home and Hosed, the successor to Richard Kingsmill's Australian Music Show. He also hosted weekday lunch and drive and weekend breakfast before joining Marieke Hardy and Lindsay McDougall (aka The Doctor) on Robbie, Marieke and the Doctor in 2008.

and who is rumoured to be his successor?
dave graney.
kyle sandilands
He's been doing voice overs for stings on ABC for a while now. He'll be great!! Yet another feather in ABC radio's cap! Congrats to the 'Buck Wit'!
Bam!
I hope he doesn't think he can bring back that SBS Dance music show. Ugh!
I reckon djblxs should put his hand up to replace him.
fuck i wish they would get rid of marieke
...Who?
Do you listen to Triple J, yoghurt?
I'm in!
why yes, yes i do. i have been known to frequent those frequencies. thank you for your concern. might i ask do you, modi?
On occasion. My ten year old likes it.
He also likes Mad Magazine as well. You Modi have been known to be caught reading one. On occasion.
don't tell me alfred e nueman is leaving as well!
Having kids is the best legitimate excuse to not grow up ever, K_R
I'm still curious as to where I have been spotted reading one.
Old Bar - Monopoly tournament.
Over my boy's shoulder? Pretty sure I was playing most of the time I was there!
I guess now is a good a time as any to admit I watched a lot of Backstreet Boy's clips and male strippers over my sisters shoulder.
Hahaha. What... me worry?
it will sure leave a black hole of shitness now robbie is leaving.

this was his top 10 in the hottest 100 of all time
David Bowie - Sound & Vision
Eno produced, this lay the template for so much music that's come since. The sparseness of it gives the sound so much space. It's still riveting and sends a shiver down my spine whenever I hear it.
Bob Dylan - Tangled up In Blue
The master at work.
Radiohead - Karma Police
One of the greatest songs from one of the greatest bands.
P.J.Harvey/Thom Yorke - This Mess We're In
I think this is the greatest duet ever. Listen to how they trade places in their vocal roles. Brilliant.
The Stranglers - Golden Brown
The harpsichord makes it. Just sublime.
Bon Iver - Skinny Love
This man's voice and this song in particular cut through to the core.
Jose Gonzales - Heartbeats
If love were sound......
The Jam - That's Entertainment
Effortlessly combining heart yearning pathos and wonderful pop sensibility. A joy.
Underworld - Cowgirl
Brings back glorious memories of dancing in fields. No wonder I don't have much cartilage left in my knees!
Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up
Time to Rickroll the h100 I think.
That's not a shameful list. Not my choice but it's creditable. Worth at least a B-.
Agree, JRB, though I say C+
i love off the record, i've never heard of most of the stuff that's played...
back to the topic.
even though i don't listen to jjj anymore (except a bit of zan) it's sad robbie's leaving, one of the only good announcers left there that's not grating. but as most jjj anouncers, graduates to abc radio/tv. can't believe its been 11 years!
i remember him being a panelist at TINA back in 1999 or 2000 and being hounded by how crap jjj was, poor thing. he seemed nice enough.
Can't decide whether the Buck looks indifferent or a tad miserable in the picture.
Just unassuming, I think.
UM... Eno didn't produce Sound and Vision, it was Tony Visconti wasn't it?
I think Robbie's just too nice and ordinary to be that interesting. I admit I haven't listened to much Triple J for ages, but when I've heard on his last few timeslots trying to be funny-radio-man I just wince.
That's right go_ Eno didn't produce Sound and Vision Tony Visconti did. Many people assumed that Eno produced Low, and while he had a big hand in the writing of it and plays on it he didn't actually produce it.
Okay, that knocks him down to a bare C. Not knowing that info is forgivable unless you're a GODDAM MUSIC GUY declaring your FAVOURITE SONGS OF ALL TIME in which case you really should do your goddam homework.
Robbie was always my favourite to listen to when I was in high school. I always thought of him as the knowledgeable but nice radio host. He always came across like he knew what he was talking about, before I found out Triple J was mostly playlisted I thought he was choosing all the music for his show.
My parents are gonna fall in love with Robbie on 702, he is gonna fit in great there.
Robbie Buck as music maker... anyone else heard this?
Max Lavergne should replace him!
Michael Tunn
I don't think it's at all weird that people find it hard to find a dj they like. It's not a common combination to have on/off personality, humour/wit and discerning taste ie not just wanking on about labels and trends and indiscriminately reproducing the same hype you read in blogs for fear of falling behind.
I have to admit that when I hear a presenter going on for more than say 30 seconds about how label X is releasing a lot of Y core and so and so who appeared on Z record is now doing more A fi sounds but mixed with live instruments with so and so B who played on the new C record I get really fucking bored - too preachy but not even really cuz there is no actual message except ''I know and you don't'' which isn't any way to inform. There has always been a language with which to talk about music anyway: musicology. It's a lot more universal than endless name dropping. Tell me about the song your about to play and why you like it. A list of names doesn't do this.
I'm not saying this is all or even most presenters but it is what makes me turn off the radio sometimes. I'm pretty sure I would not have much musical common ground with Steven Ferris on FBI but the dude is an awesome presenter. He can talk. Biiiiiiiiiiig plus.
One more piece of pointless internet emmision: I heard this statement on FBI on 18/9 by Dan Zilber on saturday lunch and (yes I'm trying my best for verbatim): So and so (I think Nancy Elizabeth) does some amazing folky stuff but I'm going to play you the so and so (I think Paddy Steer) remix to be a bit more FBI friendly. I find the arbitrariness of this statement a little mystifying. It's not like he was presenting sunset.
Err as for Robby Buck. Really nice genuine guy.
Music to run up massive debts by?
I think he's really kicking goals now that he has that new regular guy on Thursday nights at 8:15pm talking tech, web and geekery. He's awesome,
oh so you DO have time to post but not answer me about a ride on Sunday! I love your ever increasing media whoreness. I will listen next week, but make it interesting!
I'm trying to get something organised...
i like robbie heaps more on 702, he sounds much more comfortable and less 'try-hard'.
