Mukaizake Back With New Album

After a lengthy hiatus, Perth “supergroup” Mukaizake are back with a new album and a freshly inked record deal. The band, which features members and former members of Bluetile Lounge, Umpire, O! and Adam Said Galore, will release new album Unknown Knowns on December 11 through local label Hidden Shoal Recordings (Apricot Rail, Tarcutta).

The follow-up to acclaimed 2003 album Mapping the Static, the recording of Unknown Knowns began as far back as 2004, but was put on hold after members of the band relocated to different cities. The record was finally completed in mid-2009 at Forensic Audio, which is owned by band member Simon Struthers.

The six track mini-album (yep, six tracks in five years) is described as “an inspired marriage of melody and composition, all held together by extraordinary musicianship”. It features first single ‘The Yeah Conditioner’, which will be released on October 6.

Formed in 1999, Mukaizake comprises Struthers (Umpire, Adam Said Galore), Dan Erickson (Bluetile Lounge), Geoff Symons (Umpire, ex-Adam Said Galore, O!) and Michael Lake (Umpire, ex-Adam Said Galore).
