Collette Christens Album #3

News posted Wednesday, September 16 2009 at 11:00 AM.
Related: Ned Collette, Wirewalker.

It’s been well-aired to audiences in Melbourne and Sydney over the past couple months, but Ned Collette finally has a name for album number three. The follow-up to 2007’s Future Suture and his first with backing band Wirewalker (Joe Talia and Ben Bourke), Over The Stones, Under The Stars will be released on October 23 on Dot Dash.

The album has taken a trans-continental journey to get here. It was written in a library in wintery Glasgow, recorded back in Australia on a property recently ravaged by bushfires and mixed in Brooklyn NYC with Joel Hamilton (The Black Keys, Tom Waits, Elvis Costello).

The result, according to the accompanying press release, is an “album purposefully stripped of the orchestration that marked previous releases, conveying more of the fiery live experience of this unique band”. It also sees Collette himself expanding his sonic palette adding piano, organ and mellotron to his instrumental resume.

Collette and Wirewalker will launch the album in November before relocating long-term to Europe (like everyone else). Teeth & Tongue will support all shows.

Tracklisting:

The Idealist
All The Signs

definitely, if only to show that the addition of a simple ''ned'' to the original title would have stopped the loss of innocence.
