In Brief: Kim Moyes, Jen Cloher, Houlette

The Presets’ Kim Moyes will release a new collection of solo material next month. Described as a “musical clearing of the slate”, Selected Jerks 2001-2009 gathers together Moyes’ eclectic solo output – from cuts aimed squarely at the dance floor to a series of downbeat dreamsuites. Featuring such latex-party classics as ‘Wet ‘n Wild’ and ‘Fistogram’ (yes, those are real titles), Selected Jerks will be released on Modular on October 30 … Jen Cloher (pictured) and The Endless Sea’s national tour continues this weekend with a performance at Adelaide’s Wheatsheaf Hotel on Saturday (September 12). Held in support of Cloher’s acclaimed second LP Hidden Hands, the tour will include a performance at The Corner Hotel in Cloher’s hometown of Melbourne on September 19 with supports by Ned Collette and Kid Sam. Other dates here … Sixties pop enthusiasts Houlette will launch new single Pine Island at The East Brunswick Club in Melbourne on September 23. Described as “something sublimely tropical”, it’s the first taste of their forthcoming debut album, out soon through EXO Records (Apache Beat, The Night Terrors, The Slits). Supports by Sly Hats and Gold Tango.
