Joining the myriad of New Year’s festival options, Peats Ridge will run once again from December 29-January 1. The event – the first to operate completely on renewable energy – will take place in the picturesque Glenworth Valley, an hour from Sydney. This year’s line-up includes Sarah Blasko, The Panics, Liam Finn, Leader Cheetah, Dappled Cities and Jack Ladder. General release tickets are still available at the knock-down price of $285. The event is also calling for volunteers to complete a minimum of three shifts in exchange for a three-day pass. Apply here … The conference component of next week’s Big Sound music industry shindig in Brisbane has sold out, meaning you’ll have to wait until next year to ask triple j’s assistant music director why Robbie Buck won’t play your demo CD-R. Tickets are still on sale for the Big Sound showcases, featuring more than 60 artists performing over two nights. You can get them hereOh Mercy (pictured) will help launch Anglicare Victoria’s “Streets and Lanes Appeal” with a 30-minute performance for high school students in Melbourne’s AC/DC Lane on September 8, 12pm. Hosted by Rockwiz’s Brian Nankervis, the event aims to raise awareness of the issues surrounding youth homelessness. The event is free, but bookings are required. More information here.

or am i getting it confused with some other near-ish sydney festival thing around new years?

i kinda wanna go. but $285? ouch!
