Fifty bands in 50 minutes, all set up simultaneously in a single room. This is the ambitious plan hatched by Whatismusic organisers Robbie Avenaim and Lloyd Honeybrook ahead of the experimental music festival in December.
The pair are looking for keen musicians of any age who would like to be part of the event. “If you have gear and a minute's worth of creativity, or even pure derivative hilarity, then we'd like to hear from you,” they said.
The event will be taking place at the ABC's Iwaki Auditorium in Southbank, Melbourne, on December 19. It will be recorded and broadcast by ABC Radio National an hour following the gig.
If you would like to be on the bill, send through a short description of who you are, what you do, and preferably a link to a short sound clip of your work to lloydhoneybrook@gmail.com.

Who wants to play at this with me?
Frankie? Bugsy? Buffy? C'mon.
Count me in, Block. I have a tambourine and I'm not afraid to use it.
I have a bass, a kazoo and a harmonica- can get a banjo if needed.
Time to get Precious Little back together ;)
It'll never happen.
Until the CD reissues, anyway...
Can you imagine that many guitarists in the one room, all trying to out play each other?
Awesome!
