Tumbleweed On The Comeback Trail

The newly resurrected Tumbleweed – one of the few silver linings in Homebake’s yawn-inducing first announcement (Powderfinger anyone?) – will play a one-off comeback show in their hometown of Wollongong on October 31.
The original line-up – singer Richard "Richie" Lewis, bassist Jason Curley, guitarists Lenny Curley and Paul Hausmeister and drummer Steve O'Brien – will play their first show since 2003 with special guests Hytest and Baby Machine at “Waves” at the Towradgi Beach Hotel. The show will precede their Homebake bow at The Domain in Sydney on December 5.
Formed in Wollongong in the late ’80s, Tumbleweed rose like a long-haired, stoned phoenix from the ashes of local bands The Proton Energy Pills and The Unheard. Originally signed to Waterfront (and later Polydor), they released a spate of acclaimed singles, EPs and four albums: Tumbleweed (1992), Galactaphonic (1995), Return To Earth (1996) and Mumbo Jumbo (2000).
The band's members have formed several acts since their 2003 break-up including Richie and the Creeps, Monstrous Blues, Leadfinger and the recently defunct Pink Fits.
