Alps Unleashes His Inner-Mammal

Related: Alps.
The new release from Alps is an album of whale music, but it’s not exactly your typical new-age fare.
Alps of New South Whales is the long-awaited second installment to a trilogy concocted by Newcastle-based musician Chris Hearn. And like its predecessor – 2008’s Alps of the World, where every song was recorded in a different country – Alps of New South Whales is distinctly thematic: a collection of 10 new songs each named after a different whale. Killer.
Alps of New South Whales will be released in Europe in November through Beat is Murder Records, but you can procure a copy at a series of launch shows in August/September, where Hearn promises a whale of a time. Sorry.
