It was only a matter of time before someone realised the puntastic possibilities of a Sand Pebbles/Beaches double bill. Both bands will share the stage at Melbourne’s The Toff In Town on August 15.
The show will double as the launch of The Sand Pebbles’ A Thousand Wild Flowers, a compilation album that combines tracks from the band’s three most recent releases: Ceduna, Atlantis Regrets Nothing and Ghost Transmissions. The compilation has been released internationally by New York label Double Feature, which is run by Dean Wareham (Luna, Galaxie 500) and Britta Phillips (Dean + Britta). It will be distributed in Australia through Shock.
A Thousand Wild Flowers also features live tracks recorded at 3RRR and PBS FM in Melbourne, as well as the band’s cover of the 13th Floor Elevators' I Don't Ever Want To Come Down’.

This smells fishy.
Should have a whale of a time.
I wondered if anyone else was going to stick their oar in.
No need to get crabby.
I thought I'd lobster, but then I flounder...

Oh, I've got one. A Mexican, a Jew, and a colored guy go into a bar. The bartender looks up and says, ''Get the fuck out of here.''
Six puns in a leaky boat.

Excellent night, though the stupidly early starting time for Beaches (8.40pm, for freak's sake) was sub-optimal (plus the truncated nature of Beaches' set due to Antonia's broken string and the Toff's brutal time management). Sand Pebbles in fine form again.
