AXXONN Kill Jacko A Second Time

AXXONN are one of more confronting groups currently operating outside the mediocre mid-stream we call Australian music. The group, who specialize in coruscating sheets of unrelenting noise, have taken their combative approach to its logical extreme with their debut video for single ‘The Second Death’. They’ve got Jacko to ‘star’ in it.
Calm down bedwetters, it’s not that Jacko. It’s Mark ‘Jacko’ Jackson, former VFL star for teams such as St Kilda, Melbourne and Geelong and notable ‘character’ who is remembered primarily for his penchant of making a total ass of himself.
Prior to embarking on their 25-date tour of the UK and Europe, AXXONN’s Tom Hall and Ian Rogers had this to say: “Employing Jacko for a music clip wasn’t a hard decision, Jacko as a person represents both the varying sonic attributes of our sound in combination with finesse, good times and shear brutality, Jacko is a guy that is true to himself and says ‘Fuck You’ to anyone that questions it. How can AXXONN not endorse such a guy?”.
To which we offer the brilliant riposte : Indeed. AXXONN are nothing if not individual, that’s clear.
The clip features Jacko in a variety of different social settings acting out his frustration and desperation with the maladies of the modern world. Jacko is something of an everyman it seems, with hipsters the object of his scorn and the beach a favourite location for recreation. Thought the final shot of Truffaut’s 400 Blows was the most emotional in cinema, with Antoine’s solemn face covering the screen ? Wait till you see Jacko do the ‘crazy arm dance’.
