Hiroshima Return Home With Damaged Goods

Brisbane’s I Heart Hiroshima are clearly a band who noted Emperor Joseph II’s early piece of hateful elite indie music criticism : “Too many notes, Mozart”.
They also follow his less well-known aphorisms “Singing in a trans-atlantic muddle is ok as long as you’re not Craig Nicholls” and “To get anywhere in Australia, record or mix with someone well-known”. To this end the band have just been off mixing their forthcoming record in the United Kingdom with Gang of Four guitarist/producer Andy Gill.
As a teaser to their as-yet-untitled second album the band are releasing a single, ‘Shakeytown’, in August. Making home feel like a tourist destination, the band are also heading out for a month-long tour in support of the single with fellow Brisbane mates DZ.
We hope Gill has taken some of the knowledge gleaned from his last Australian project, The Mark of Cain’s brutal This Is This, and imparted it to the impressionable Brisbane kids. Look forward to drummer Susie Patten breaking snares like John Stanier and guitarists Matthew Somers and Cameron Hawes chalking up with weightlifting powder prior to strapping on their instruments, just like the all-too-quiet Scott brothers do.
‘Shakeytown’ will be out early August via Valve/MGM.
