Melbourne’s ever-elusive This Is Your Captain Speaking will emerge from their bunker for a series of shows over July/August. The “instrumentalists” (post-rock is a dirty word now, don’t you know?) will be showcasing material from their second album Eternal Return, which has been through two sold-out pressings and managed to score the band a deal with UK label Resonant Records (home to Do Make Say Think).
If you need convincing, post-rock bible The Silent Ballet has raved about Eternal Return calling it “perhaps the most important record of the year” (someone hasn’t heard Lil’ Wayne’s rock record, obvs). The band’s run of four shows will include a maiden flight to Perth, as well as two shows in Melbourne. Fingers crossed they get a better reception out west than some other hapless pilgrims.
A fully-fledged east-coast tour is planned for September.

excellent news! the ''fully-fledged east-coast tour'' bit anyway. saw them play at an amazing themed night at the opera studio ... with essendon airport ... and some other band ... blew me away - and they all wrapped up with a cover of 'here come the warm jets' - look fwd to sydney show.
Man! My little bro not only gets to see them before me when I've been waiting for about 4 or 5 years, he gets to PLAY with them!
