Fabulous Diamonds In Sydney

Hard to believe, but Melbourne’s Fabulous Diamonds will play their first show in Sydney in two years. The duo of Nisa Venerosa and Jarrod Zlatic will perform at The Sandringham Hotel in Newtown on July 25.

Presented by indie record store Repressed Records, the gig will also feature Holy Balm, Onani and Naked On The Vague (Lucy Phelan and Matthew Hopkins), who recently augmented their line-up with Lachlan (Crux, St Albans Kids) on drums and Nic (Ghosts of Television, Nhomea) on bass. The band debuted as a four-piece at an FBi Radio fundraiser at Serial Space in May.

Meanwhile, Fabulous Diamonds will support Mum Smokes when they launch their new double album, Easy/*House Music* at The Curtin Bandroom on Friday (June 26).

All presale tickets (available from Repressed Records 356 King St, Newtown) and the first 50 people through the door will receive a free A3, two-colour print of the gig poster.

It can double as my Birthday party.

yesssss

dombro  said about 1 year ago:

Didn't Fabulous Diamonds support Pivot at the Oxford Art Factory last year?

Of course, I'm pretty sick right now with a stupidly high fever, so I might be delirious.

shaun  said about 1 year ago:

The last I saw Fabulous Diamonds was supporting My Disco's album launch at OAF early last year.

nic.rulz  said about 1 year ago:

*Should say first headline show in 2 years. They also played with My Disco. I think both shows sold out so this is the first chance a lot of people will have to see them.

giantsquid  said about 1 year ago:

Free Choice 7'' will be for sale at the shows.....

dualpLOVER  said about 1 year ago:

sweet

MelonHCST  said about 1 year ago:

I didn't dig them much with My Disco and Ohana but I'm willing to give them another shot.

black wasp!  said about 1 year ago:

Hilarious poster.

giantsquid  said about 1 year ago:

.....How is the poster hilarious in anyway? That the photo is upside down? .........

untold/animals  said about 1 year ago:

Is this like that awkward moment where you have to explain the joke and then the joke just seems dumb?

Chief Bromden  said about 1 year ago:

i might need to go to this......

adam  said about 1 year ago:

I can just see the crowd reaction now. Similar to sydney swans fans when the umpire pays frees for arcane rules like deliberate out of bounds... 60 ppl scratching their heads and looking a bit miffed. I could be wrong though.

shaun  said about 1 year ago:

Wouldn't mind an impromptu Free Choice gig over this weekend. really digging the Fifth Column 7 inch.

fliegende hollander  said about 1 year ago:

Yeah Free Choice at Locksmith on the Sunday, PLEEEEASE

giantsquid  said about 1 year ago:

Hey I looked into booking a FREE CHOICE 7'' launch at Locksmith but they can only do shows on Sunday which means I can't do it as I'm leaving Sunday afternoon (and also means I miss the M-Squared Reunion show!) Anyone got any suggestions for a small venue on Friday for FREE CHOICE 7'' launch???

Ps. Gonna rock da haus.

giantsquid  said about 1 year ago:

Also; forthcoming Free Choice releases;

FREE CHOICE DUO / SUPERSTAR split cass. on Near Tapes live from the sets they performed on their recent tour. Free Choice Duo set is under the addles of a bad acid trip on one-half of the duo.....not that you can tell.

FREE CHOICE cass. on Night People, LIVE AT THE NORTH PERTH CHAPEL. Sweet hi-fidelity!

Look out.

astralwerkor  said about 1 year ago:

Pleasure. Some great stuff on there. He does a good job.

anok  said about 1 year ago:

he should edit the 6 minutes of house music/people talking/soundcheck out of the free choice recording though.

astralwerkor  said about 1 year ago:

Yeah. Oh well.

anok  said about 1 year ago:

shaun  said about 1 year ago:

according to Repressed Records status update on Facebook, Onani has pulled out and Moonmilk added to the bill.

shaun  said about 1 year ago:

both good and bad news then.

I am Morris  said about 1 year ago:

Bad news. Moonmilk twice in one weekend?

CaptainFez  said about 1 year ago:

Fuxors. And glee! If I've energy after the recital I'm going to in the arvo, might kick along to this one...

goldbuttons  said about 1 year ago:

oh I really wanted to see the new Onani!

boner m.  said about 1 year ago:

me too, there seems to be cosmic forces conspiring against me preventing me from seeing the revamped Onani (missed their last 4-5 support slots for shows i've attended)

Repressed Records  said about 1 year ago:

Sorry about Onani everyone. Nic is really sick.. Moonmilk were nice enough to help us out so you still get your 4 bands for $12.

SpringRain  said about 1 year ago:

he should edit the 6 minutes of house music/people talking/soundcheck out of the free choice recording though.

ha, i was just listening to this thinking the same thing. surely it's not that difficult. but man, free choice sound awesome. can't wait to see him/them

astralwerkor  said about 1 year ago:

As I said, he probably should. Though, surely it's not that difficult to just skip through to the beginning of the set, either?

shaun  said about 1 year ago:

Still recovering from this. Holy Balm were amazing, get better every time I see them.

fliegende hollander  said about 1 year ago:

Yeah Holy Balm were untouchable

anonymous  said about 1 year ago:

first time i'd seen em, won't be the last.

I am Morris  said about 1 year ago:

Holy Balm were phwoar. First time seeing NoTV as a 4 piece and I thought they were really great. Fab Diamonds were a bit off, putting a recording of their show up in the morning if anyones interested.

You're looking at about 10-15 bucks in a taxi dogvscats. Marrickville is closer to the airport than the CBD.
