Sydney instrumentalists Decoder Ring will release their fourth LP They Bind The Stars, And The Wild Team in July; a full fours years after their 2005 effort Fractions. So why the delay? According to guitarist Matt FitzGerald the band were on the hunt for sounds.
"Before we got to songs, there was finding the sounds," says FitzGerald. "We wanted to find new sounds – find our sound."
If new single ‘Let A Thousand Flowers Bloom’ is any indication, the band have moved away from the ambient textures of previous efforts towards a more buoyant pop sound. The album was recoded with American producer Scott Colburn, who has worked with Arcade Fire and Animal Collective.
Decoder Ring will be previewing songs from the album (out July 11 on Inertia Recordings) at an FBi fundraiser at Sydney’s Luna Park on June 27.

is that really the new cover art? not a fan.
shutup tinyman... go back to making threads about being depressed and wanting to kill yourself and begging for someone to hang out with..that cover is awsome!
jee-mayle.
'and grass will grow over your cities' sounds like it has a pigeon cooing throughout it. i'm sure it's not the intention but seems to fit well against the title.
i noticed it on a certain email account, but i'm ignoring it and holding out for the record store physcial copy like an excited schoolkid.
a school kid circa 1992. of course schoolkids today would just grab the download.
