Cuba Is Japan Bound For Asia

Cuba Is Japan, the new-ish project for Cameron Potts (Baseball, Ninetynine), will live up to their East-inspired moniker when they tour Asia in July-August.

The experimental four-piece – Potts, Bianca Poitevin, James Heenan and Darcy Pimblett – have been invited to perform at Taiwan’s Music Terminals Festival on August 1, where they’ll perform alongside Placebo, CSS and fellow Australians Mick Turner and The Stabs. The Taiwan performance will be preceded by a show in Malaysia on July 28 with The Stabs and The Holy Soul. The tour will culiminate with a run of five shows in China with – wait for it – Frente. Yes, the Frente.

The band recently recorded their debut album with US transplant Kramer, who has worked with Galaxie 500, Lou Reed and most recently Leader Cheetah. It’s being mixed in the US and will “hopefully” be released upon their return.
