After a five-month hiatus, The Assassination Collective return with a month-long residency at Melbourne’s The Tote. The self-described “anarchistic six-piece rock orchestra” will showcase tracks from their 2008 release A Million Fantastic Reasons, as well as debut a few new cuts in the Tote’s front bar throughout June.
Special guests include Valentine (June 6), Inappropriate Tough Guy Behaviour (June 12) and Sons of the Ionian Sea (June 20). Due to the absence of the globetrotting Ben Butcher, who will be somewhere between Broome and Fitzroy Crossing on June 27, the last residency will feature Assassination Collective side projects Palomino and Bodies.
All shows kick off at 5pm and finish by 7pm.

No offence, but I'm pretty sure it was my fave ass squad gig to date.

I was at the Tote tonight. You should have chosen a band name that's easier to spell - it was misspelled twice! Assinassition and Assasination...
starts in 15... come on down!
awesome turnout yesterday.
thank you linesmen, thank you ballboys
yeah, lots of new faces yesterday. highlights were that first new song, buffy losing his snare and ben forgetting how to play todd river.
Last residency show tomorrow!
Well, not quite...
Due to Monsieur Butcher's departure to parts unknown, this Saturday will see three of our numerous other projects fill the 5 to 7 slot.
Come on down and experience BODIES - Joel's sub-primitive rock band. Beards, sweat, beer and feedback. Try throwing Lemmy, a Fender twin, and 1/2 a ton of granite in a cement mixer and you're on the right track.
Mr MATT GLEESON will also be playing, although at this stage we're not sure what it is he'll be doing. Anything could happen, hippy dirges, sweet love songs, or violent noise. Very much like his role in the Collective, actually.
And for something completely different, PALOMINO will play their debut Melbourne show. Simon Sez trades his bass for an acoustic guitar and wails countrified tunes accompanied by the dulcet voice of Ms Prudence McCulloch.
Thanks to all who've turned up in the last three weeks, it's been a blast! Great to see you all, and we hope to see you again for this last very special residency show.
bumping 'cause it's today
Let's hope my guitar works this time
