Record Crowds At Groovin The Moo

In spite of a global financial crisis, cool temperatures and overtones of festival overkill, travelling regional event Groovin the Moo yielded record numbers in each of its three stops.

About 38,000 people attended the 2009 Groovin the Moo tour across Townsville, Maitland and Bendigo. The Maitland event sold out at 15,000 with Townsville attracting 13,000 people and Bendigo securing 10,000 in its inaugural year (so it was a “record” attendance regardless of how many showed).

This has been the first year Groovin the Moo has toured the same line-up of artists across three states over three weekends. Acts performing included Muscles, The Living End, Architecture in Helsinki, The Drones, Children Collide and Tame Impala.

“Overall it was definitely our best year ever,” said organiser Stephen Halpin. “Plans are already underway for 2010 and our challenge is to make it bigger and better again.”

I left half way through the event to go to the RSL and drink $3 cougar pots. Right on

email  said about 2 years ago:

So you didn't have to pay $8.50 for mid-strength cans?

HUF.  said about 2 years ago:

the band at the RSL was better too.

King_Rat  said about 2 years ago:

Only mid strenth in NSW the guide told me but it was almost the reason. Plus the cold wind. My inability to become excited about the upcoming acts.

It was $7 a pop for a vb/carlton or $10 for a mix of whatever. But a dollar off if you returned your can.

So we figured you could just get the dollar off if you were buying another. Our friend rocks up an hour after us at the RSL saying he made $50 in twenty minutes collecting cans. I was furious.

And Huf was right, the corvettes at the rsl slayed.

email  said about 2 years ago:

Apparently some chick at the Maitland one made $500 collecting cans. Then she was off to make another $500. $1000 for a day out isn't bad.

That's awesome.

What the fuck does grooving the moo mean, though?

shut up city boy

Modi  said about 2 years ago:

If the country is so great, why does everyone leave as soon as they are legal?

No, but seriously, what does it mean?

Ben  said about 2 years ago:

didnt I just tell you to shut up!?!!

Modi  said about 2 years ago:

Yes, but I am ignoring you.

Is it a cow thing? I don't do cows.

Ben  said about 2 years ago:

King_Rat  said about 2 years ago:

You should have seen the range of cow related puns.

None of which I will tell you
