If there’s a more appropriate name for a twee-folk troubadour than Fergus Brown, we’d sure like to hear it. The Sydney singer-songwriter will launch his debut LP Burgers Frown across the east coast this month.
Taking its cues from Ben Kweller, Sufjan Stevens and Paul Simon, Burgers Frown is described a collection of off-beat love songs. It features guest contributions from Tim Derricourt (Dappled Cities), Tony Dupé, Paul Mac, Jack Ladder and Matt Steffen (Decoder Ring). Album track ‘Last Winter’ featured prominently in the Emmy Award-winning US television series The Starter Wife starring Debra Messing, Judy Davis and Miranda Otto.
Brown recently performed with Jens Lekman, New Buffalo, Jack Ladder, Pinky Beecroft, An Horse, Deep Sea Arcade and Cloud Control, as well as supporting and performing with Martha Wainwright on her recent Australia-wide tour.
Burgers Frown will be released in Australia on May 15 through MGM. Proceeds from the May 17 show at The Hopetoun in Sydney will go to FBi Radio.
